Recreational Soccer
NCYSA defines a recreational team as one that does not use tryouts, invitations, recruiting or any like process to roster players selectively to any team on the basis of talent or ability.  Every child must play at least half of each game except for reasons of injury or discipline.  NCYSA and SCSC strive to promote an emphasis on PARTICIPATION, not COMPETITION.

Challenge
The goal of the SCSC Challenge League is to provide an environment in which the level of competition, commitment, and player development falls bewteen that of the Recreation and Classic Leagues.  All Challenge coaches are required to go through coaching education and have a responsibility to develop the soccer skills and team play of the players.

By USYS and USSF standards, the NCYSA Challenge program is a competitive level of play, becasue tryouts are conducted to form teams.  Challenge teams travel throughout the state of North Carolina; however, travel is usually limited to a smaller radius than the Classic level.  The NCYSA Challenge program allows for players to develop beyond the recreational level and play at a more competitive level with modified travel time to and from games.

Development is accomplished through player and parent commitment to 2-3 days of training, plus weekend matches and away tournaments.  Challenge coaches are encouraged to utilize all players in match competition based on player's commitment level and player's role on the team.  SCSC's Challenge program is currently affiliated with the Mid-State Soccer League.

Club registration fees are $525 (full year) and $325 (one season).  These fees include coaching fees, uniforms, referees, NCYSA fees and Player Development Program (PDP).

Classic
The NCYSA Classic program provides an environment to develop players at the highest level: age appropriate development of players who demonstrate talent and commitment with the desire to excel, and appropriate level of team competition and the values of good sportsmanship to all who participate.  Players wishing to play at the most competitive level possible (excluding ODP), for an extended period of time (usually 8-10 months), play Classic.

Our Classic players and coaches will demonstrate the highest level of commitment to excellence in skills, fitness, work ethic, attitude and sportsmanship.  Classic players and coaches will demonstate a commitment to the club, their team and their own soccer development.  Players compete against classic teams from leagues and club throughout North Carolina during their regular season.  Based on age and level, teams will compete in 2-4 tournaments annually.

Classic coaches have full discretionary power on team management issues.  Club registration fees are $575 (full year) and $375 (one season).  These fees include coaching fees, uniforms, referees, NCYSA fees and Player Development Program (PDP).
